Uzbekistan hosts regional study tour to improve collaboration on water management

The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), the Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources of Uzbekistan, and the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia combined financial and technical resources to bring 24 representatives from the five Central Asian countries and Afghanistan to Tashkent from May 2 to 4, 2017 for a study tour under the auspices of USAID’s Smart Waters project.

The Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Melioration, an academic institution known for training generations of water management specialists throughout Central Asia and the broader region, hosted the study tour, gathering researchers and scientists from academic institutions across the region to exchange experiences, discuss cooperation on university curricula and methodologies, explore joint research possibilities, and consider best practices for re-training water specialists.
