On February 27, 2015, the U.S. State Department’s Export Control and Related Border Security (EXBS) Program presented information technology (IT) equipment to the Refresher Training Faculty of the Higher Military Customs Institute, worth $28,300.00.
The IT equipment includes, among other items, 21 personal computer work stations with 19-inch monitors and uninterrupted power supply units. The equipment will enhance the ability of the Refresher Training Faculty to provide specialized courses, re-training, and will offer professional development opportunities to enhance the qualifications of active Customs officers. The IT equipment was provided under the State Department-funded Export Control and Related Border Security Assistance (EXBS) Program.

The EXBS Program, administered by the U.S. Department of State, is designed to help address the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, their delivery systems, related technologies, and other weapons. In Uzbekistan, the Program comprises a wide range of nonproliferation export control assistance, from licensing and legal/regulatory technical workshops, to the provision of equipment, and training for border control and enforcement agencies. The equipment provided under this Program includes communications equipment, detection and inspection equipment, IT equipment, and vehicles.
Since its inception in April 2000, the EXBS Program has donated over $15,000,000 in equipment and training to the Government of Uzbekistan.
