From July 18 to July 29, three English language education experts from the U.S. Department of Defense worked in cooperation with the Uzbek Ministry of Defense to host a workshop for MOD English instructors. Sixteen English language teachers attended the ten day English language program representing various Ministry of Defense Institutions, including the Tashkent-based Armed Forces Academy, Non-Commissioned Officer Schools in Karshi, Chortoq, and Samarkand, and the Higher Military Schools in Tashkent and Samarkand.
The U.S. English teaching specialists, Emily Romero, Rachel Matthews, and Hilary Simms, are part of the U.S. Government’s Defense Language Institute English Language Center. The visiting specialists enjoyed their two weeks in Uzbekistan, and the opportunity to interact with Uzbek professionals working in their field. This interactive workshop helped to support English Language Instruction within the Ministry of Defense and provided a venue for cooperation between the United States of America and Uzbekistan.
