U.S. Embassy Tashkent would like to inform U.S. citizens in Uzbekistan and those who plan to arrive between June 16 and June 24 that media reports indicate there may be travel restrictions and traffic disruptions during this period due to the meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in Tashkent.
Based on these reports, travel in and out of Tashkent city may be difficult or limited between June 16 and June 24, with vehicle, train, and possibly domestic air travel restricted in and out of the city. In addition, vehicle and pedestrian traffic may be heavily limited within the city during the main SCO summit meetings from June 22-24. The potential restrictions may be most noticeable in the center of the town, at and around Tashkent International Airport, and areas near major sights. The traffic limitations may also affect your ability to visit the Embassy for U.S. citizen services.
U.S. citizens are urged to plan accordingly and consider these warnings before planning trips to and from Tashkent city during the above-mentioned dates. The Embassy will inform the local U.S. citizen community of any updates it receives from local government offices.
