Dear U.S. Citizens,
The Consular Section of the U.S. Embassy in Tashkent plans to relaunch its short text messaging (SMS) notification system. This system will allow the Consular Section to send emergency notifications straight to subscribers’ mobile phones as an SMS message.
The SMS notification system will become an additional means of communication with the private U.S. citizen community in Uzbekistan and will NOT replace the usual E-mail notification system for those who are registered in the State Department’s Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP). U.S. citizens are still encouraged to enroll in STEP and list their valid E-mail addresses in the Contact Information field. When fully operational, the SMS notification system will complement the E-mail notification system.

Please list your number with the full dialing code including the country code as +998 and the nine-digit number (for example +998901234567).
