On Wednesday, February 1, 2017: The Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources of Uzbekistan and the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia signed a cooperative agreement to implement a five year water management project “Smart Waters”. This is a regional program of U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) aimed to improve water management training system for professionals, academic researchers and policy makers among the countries of Aral Sea basin. An enhanced networking and capacity building activities will strengthen potential for sustainable water resources management on the principles of integrated water resources management and basin planning under alarming signs of climate change.
