New Year’s Greetings from U.S. Ambassador Pamela Spratlen

Dear Friends,

As 2015 draws to a close, I want to send a message of thanks and best wishes.  It is hard to believe nearly a year has passed since my January 19 arrival.  U.S. Embassy Tashkent staff and I have received warm welcomes when we have traveled around the country and the year has been an great one for furthering the bilateral relationship between the United States and Uzbekistan.  This year, working in partnership with the Government and people of Uzbekistan, we made progress in all areas of our multi-faceted relationship.  The highlight of 2015 was welcoming Secretary of State John Kerry to Samarkand, where he met with President Karimov and led a historic first C5+1 meeting with the Foreign Minister of all five Central Asian states.  It is our goal to further expand our strong relationship in the new year.  On behalf of the people of the United States of America and my colleagues and their families at the American Embassy in Tashkent, I would like to express my heartfelt greetings to the people of Uzbekistan on the occasion of the New Year.  I wish you and your families strong health, peace, prosperity, and happiness.  Happy New Year!  Yangi yilingiz muborak bo’lsin!
