On February 27, the USAID Regional Economic Cooperation (REC) project, in collaboration with the CERT International Academy, organized a workshop for nearly 200 participants on the new ISO 9001:2015 guidelines. The ISO international standards certificate helps ensure that products and services are safe, reliable and of good quality and allowing companies access new markets. The workshop focused on explaining the requirements needed to receive the ISO certification for international quality management standards.
The head of the Department of Certification and Metrology delivered opening remarks and presented information on the inception and development of the ISO 9001 certification process. He noted the increased demand for the certification and the need for Uzbek businesses to comply with and to accelerate their product accreditation process. The workshop was held in Samarkand but attracted participants from Fergana, Kashkadarya, Bukhara, Navoiy, Jizzah, Tashkent, Khorezm, and Surkhandarya. The high number of participants from different regions is testament to the strong demand by the business community for information on international standards certification.
