On behalf of the U.S. Embassy and the people of the United States of America, allow me to convey warmest wishes to the people of Uzbekistan on the occasion of Navruz.
From the first days of its independence, Uzbekistan revived the public celebration of Navruz throughout the country. Since then this traditional eastern New Year has united families and communities throughout Uzbekistan to engage in singing and dancing, as well as planting trees and flowers, and in the traditional making of sumalak to greet the onset of spring.
As the great Uzbek poet Alisher Navoi said, may all your days be Navruz! On this festive spring occasion, I wish the people of Uzbekistan continued peace, strong health, and prosperity. May we all enjoy the blessings and friendship of Navruz.
