
Set up as a partnership between the United States of America and Uzbekistan, the Window on America functions as a hub for activities, opening its doors to Uzbek youth looking to improve their English and learn about U.S. culture, history and values.
Located on the fourth floor of Alisher Navoi National Library, the “Window on America” offers a variety of educational and cultural programs, as well as access to a vast collection of print and digital English language recourses.
Window on America Collection Items
- A rich reference collection of encyclopedias, dictionaries, atlases, handbooks, study guides, English textbooks on grammar, pronunciation, vocabulary.
- A general collection of information technology, politics, economics, law, art, linguistics, fiction, history books, etc.
- Educational advising recourses as well as test preparation materials such as TOEFL, IELTS, GMAT, etc.
- Audio books
- American feature and documentary films
- Magazines and journals
- Computers and iPads are provided to meet educational needs and interests of all.
Regular programs
The center hosts weekly Conversation Clubs, “Window on America” presentations, and movie screening sessions led by native English speakers. The U.S. Embassy and the National Library of Uzbekistan also provide English courses for learners of different levels.
In addition, Window on America hosts monthly EducationUSA presentations for students interested in pursuing higher education at U.S. universities.
Access to the Window on America
The center is open during library business hours. Students can access the premises at their convenience by presenting a valid National Library membership card.
