Alumni English Project: Round Six

Thanks to the overwhelming number of applicants for our English with Alumni classes, the U.S. Embassy/Tashkent has employed a lottery to select those interested applicants for the placement tests.  We have already contacted those who were randomly selected to take the placement tests.  We regret that class space is limited.  Please continue to watch this space for announcements about future English with Alumni classes.

The U.S. Embassy in Tashkent is pleased to announce the launch of a new round of the “Alumni English” project. U.S. Exchange Alumni will conduct two different English language courses three times per week, each class lasting one and a half hours.

The first program, “Language in Use,” will cater to people 14 years and older whose English proficiency level is below intermediate level.

The second program, “TOEFLiBT Preparation Course,” is for English learners above the intermediate proficiency level. The TOEFL preparation course also aims to help students planning to apply to U.S. colleges and universities.

These programs are designed to help you develop practical communication skills with special emphasis on conversation, pronunciation and listening. In addition to practicing and enhancing your English language skills, you will also learn about American culture in order to gain a better understanding of life in the United States.

If you would like to enroll in one of these English courses, please register for the placement test. Enrollment requirements will be provided during the tests.

The courses will begin on April 22, 2019.

TO ENROLL IN ONE OF THESE COURSES, YOU FIRST NEED TO PASS A PLACEMENT TEST SCHEDULED FOR THE FOLLOWING DATES:

  • MONDAY, APRIL 8 – “LANGUAGE IN USE” from 14:00 to 17:00*
  • TUESDAY, APRIL 9 – “TOEFL iBT PREP” from 14:00 to 17:00*
